‘The Cost Of Speaking Out’: Swara Bhasker On Not Getting Enough Work

Swara Bhasker is known for speaking her mind on social and political causes. The star has made her name in the Hindi film industry by doing films like Tanu Weds Manu, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Raanjhanaa, Nil Battey Sannata and Veere Di Wedding.

She last featured in the film Jahan Char Yaar alongside Meher Vij, Pooja Chopra, and Shikha Talsania. However, in a recent interview she said that despite being a part of various blockbuster movies, she does not get enough work as she is vocal about important issues.

‘I’ve chosen consciously to put at risk my work’

Speaking about her career in films, Bhasker said. “I’ve chosen consciously to put at risk the thing that is most dear to me, and that is my work.” She added that the cost has been huge. “It’s been personal and emotional in the sense that I don’t get to do the thing that I love doing, which is acting. I don’t get to do it enough.”

She further said that she is a far better actor and much more competent, and an effective actor than the opportunities that come her way. She believes she has a far better track record in terms of her career as she has been a part of six or seven blockbuster films and a whole bunch of web series and shows as the protagonist. “I’ve never had bad reviews pretty much. There shouldn’t be a reason for me to feel like I don’t get enough work but clearly, I don’t,” she added.

Swara Bhasker Joins Bharat Jodo Yatra

Bhasker recently took part in the Bharat Jodo Yatra and appealed to fellow citizens to join the mass contact programme of the Indian National Congress.

She was seen walking briskly with Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain.
