Swati Piramal Meets President Murmu, Discusses Piramal Foundation’s Upcoming Initiatives

The Hon'ble President of India, Draupadi Murmu, met the chairman and vice chairman of the Piramal group, Ajay Piramal and Dr. Swati Piramal respectively at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, to discuss the various initiatives the Piramal Foundation has taken to address the most difficult issues in the nation. Featuring the numerous projects carried out by the Piramal Foundation in areas of tribal health and welfare, education, water conservation, Ayushman Bharat, and digital healthcare services, a book titled ‘Doing Well & Doing Good’ was given to the President.

The book provides a look at the Piramal Foundation's pan-Indian programmes and their effects on the ecosystem of the social sector. The Big Bets in the foundation's portfolio of solutions will help India advance faster towards the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Anamaya, the Tribal Health Collaborative, one of the foundation's crucial programmes, aims to collaborate closely with tribal communities in order to eradicate tuberculosis (TB), lower rates of maternal and neonatal mortality, increase access to healthcare through traditional tribal medicine and incorporate art and culture into tribal health.

By utilising last-mile convergence and hyperlocal collaboration, the Aspirational Districts Collaboration hopes to improve the lives of 100 million people who are now living in extreme poverty in 112 Aspirational Districts by 2030. In this programme, the foundation aims to promote basic literacy and education, anaemia screening and treatment, and self-reliance and ownership in water management. The book also discusses other initiatives like the Digital Bharat Collaborative, which looks at implementing digital architecture for better healthcare services, and the Piramal School of Leadership, which develops leaders for the future in the fields of education, health, and climate sustainability.

The Hon'ble President expressed her appreciation for the Piramal Foundation's efforts during the meeting to address important issues affecting India's social sector ecosystems and the lives of over 113 million Indians living in 27 states and two union territories.
