He is a favourite of Bollywood celebs, he has dressed stars from overseas like model Naomi Campbell and former Victoria’s Secret Angel, Karolina Kurkova. But have you ever been curious like us to see what ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra's house looks like? No sweat, we have sourced pics from his Instagram, YouTube and Google at large, where he has himself given a tour of his house to media houses. So here is what his abode in Mumbai looks like.
Manish Malhotra gave a tour to Hello! India magazine's YouTube channel and it is nothing short of luxury! His house is spacious, has bold accents with lot of woodwork and he definitely digs dark tones which is evident in the decor of the house.
Manish is fond of paintings and we can see that in the above picture which is just next to the entrance of the house.
His abode is full of plush sofas in velvet in royal colours of deep blue and green, rugs collected from different parts of the world and chic chandeliers. You will also see French windows which open to a patio which adds a lot of breathing space to the house.
Malhotra's Mumbai home gives a very vintage vibe, with art adorning most of his walls and vintage cars made of silver as his decor pieces and wooden carvings galore.
Not to draw a comparison but we can see a major difference bwteen his and designer Sabyasachi's taste. The latter is more traditional with a number of decorative items in the house and painted walls, while Manish is more minimalistic and modern in outlook when it comes to the home decor.
Manish Malhotra's house also has large floor-to-ceiling mirrors, and one of them is present in his bedroom. His bathroom also has a huge collection of Tom Ford perfumes which he is apparently obsessed with.
The whiskey decanters, chandeliers and wooden pillars and walls sure look very regal with backlit false ceilings.
Manish Malhotra's journey is an inspiring story when he was just a model and grew up in a Punjabi household obsessed with Bollywood. In an interview to Hindustan Times, Manish said: " I’m completely self-taught -- I used to sit and sketch for hours! Finally, at the age of 25, I got my big break -- I worked on a film starring Juhi Chawla!”
"Rangeela was a turning point for me -- I won my very first Filmfare award for it! But there were challenges -- I remember producers would get so irritated when I’d ask multiple questions about the storyline. The only brief I had was to make the heroine look glamorous. But I wanted to do more! That’s how my name started going around. I started travelling the world, designing clothes, and then launched my own label in 2005," he added.
