tricks for removing lint from clothes main

Is there anything worse than running late to a party and after much effort deciding on the perfect outfit, only to find out that it is covered in lint? Absolutely no, right? But then, do you know what you should do to deal with this headache in the future? Fret not, we have got you!

We often see fuzz appearing on our clothes, especially on warm and woollen clothes, which makes them look old and worn out. Besides, this can also happen after a wash cycle. But what exactly is this? It is lint.

Lint is basically a fuzz comprising of the fine ravellings and short fibers of yarn and fabric. In simple terms, it is little bits of your clothing that come off from friction or washing.

For your new clothes, there might be the case that they are prone to getting lint while being manufactured. However, old clothes mostly accumulate lint during the washing process. The worst part is that these little, conniving bunches of lint tend to get combined with dirt, which makes it all the more difficult to remove.

In this article, we have rounded up a bunch of essential tips, tricks, and hacks for removing lint from your clothes and keeping them looking new for a long period of time. So, what are you waiting for? Read on!

Use A Lint Roller

First up on our list is one of the easiest tricks of removing that pesky lint from your clothes. Just use a lint roller!

To those who don’t know, a lint roller is a product that consists of a roll of one-sided adhesive paper that is mounted on a central spindle with an attached handle for easy use.

For using it, you have to peel the wrapper off and roll it across the garment. Try to use it in up-and-down motion only. It will catch all the gunk attached to your clothes.

When the adhesive paper gets full with lint, simply peel off the sticky sheet to reveal a fresh sheet underneath. This tool works on most of the materials, from cotton to velvet to linen, you name it!

And you know what the best part is? This product is easily available in the market at a very economical price.

Use A Gentle Lint Brush

Using a lint or cloth brush can solve all your clothing woes! If the lint has gathered on your high-quality and non-washable clothing item, then trying a cloth brush is a must.

This brush looks like our ordinary hairbrush, except its bristles are usually made of horse or boar hair, making them natural and easy on the cloth.

For using this product, you would need to gently brush in the opposite direction of the fabric but please make sure that you brush only in one direction. You can simply start from the top of the clothing piece and work your way downward.

Slowly, all the lint will disappear from your jacket, sweater, or blazer, trust us!

Invest In A Fabric Or Sweater Shaver

A sweater shaver is very simple to use and much safer as compared to using a regular razor blade. But while removing the fuzz with this shaver, make sure you fully concentrate.

Otherwise, there is a chance that you might end up removing too much of the fabric, making the cloth material around the lint overly thin. So, follow this tip and don’t ruin your cozy sweater!

Use Some Packaging Tape

This is one of the most common and easy hacks. You just need to cut a piece of wide tape and place the sticky side on the area that is affected by lint. Rub your fingers across the tape to smooth it out. As you pull the tape off, the lint should also come off with it.

For more grip, you can also roll some packaging tape around your hand and pat the affected area with your fingers. This hack will also help you to score a lint-free outfit.

Use A Pumice Stone

If you are wondering, why is a pumice stone included in this list, then let us tell you that this product can do more than just being your natural skin exfoliator.

Due to its coarse-grained texture, a pumice stone can make for an excellent lint-remover. For using it to remove the lint, make sure that you are going in the direction of the weave of the fabric and not against it. Also, try not to rub too hard on the affected area.

If you don’t follow these tips, you can ruin your gorgeous piece of clothing.

Use Your Hairdryer

If any of the above-mentioned tools are not working for you then you can always count on your trusty hairdryer to give you a nice and lint-free garment.

For trying this hack, you have to take a fresh dryer sheet and dampen it a little. Then, hang your garment on a hanger, rub the sheet gently on your lint-covered piece.

Simultaneously, blow it with your hairdryer on the cool setting. This hack will surely send those stubborn, pesky lint into the ether!
