Receiving heat on social media platforms is not new for celebrities. Bollywood actor Neha Dhupia has been garnering a lot of attention for giving a controversial statement on cheating in a relationship. The actor gave the statement as the judge of a reality television show, MTV Roadies Revolution. As soon as the channel shared the promo of the upcoming episode, wherein a male contestant narrated slapping a girl because she was cheating on him with five other boys, netizens started calling out the actor. In the video, Neha can be seen getting furious on the contestant, stating that “Nobody gives you the fu***ing right to slap a girl.
The clip which is going viral all over the social media also shows Neha shouting at the male contestant saying, “Yeh Jo Tu Bol Raha Hai Na Ki Ek Nahi Paanch Ladko Ke Saath Gayi Thi… Sun Meri Baat – It’s Her Choice. Maybe The Problem Lies With You.” (The Thing that you are saying that she went out with five other guys, listen - It’s Her Choice. Maybe The Problem Lies With You.)
Now, the social media is flooding with video, memes, and tweets calling the 39-year-old actor #fakefaminist. While a few are just putting out their thoughts against Neha, some Twitterati are also sharing posts describing what actual feminism is.
This is not only shit. They are shitty shit.

While one Twitter user wrote, “#NehaDhupia So according to her A Girl can slap 4 guys and have 5 bfs at a time that's ok bcoz the problem lies with us but when A boy (read obsessor) does the same, he is surely a pervert. No wonder if this feminazi replaces Mia Khalifa very soon. #FakeFeminist.” Another said, “Fake Feminist ALERT! THIS IS NOT WHAT FEMINISM IS ABOUT NEHA! It's about EQUAL opportunity to both men and women.. Feminists want women to be treated equally but not Greater than men! The girl was wrong and the boy too cuz violence should be avoided But You! Shame! #FakeFeminist.”
Since women around the world have remained the victim of violence for decades, raising voice against cruelty is not ethically wrong. But on the other side, under no circumstances, women or any gender can justify cheating on their partners for whatever reason. The debate about feminism is not new. Back in 2015, when Deepika Padukone released My Choice video, which was on women empowerment, many criticised it, stating that the clip is somewhat derogatory. Especially, the line wherein the actor said, “to have sex outside marriage...” garnered a lot of mixed reaction.
However, it was later when Deepika clarified, while speaking to a leading media house that she can never support adultery. “I never have endorsed infidelity. I am someone, who completely believes in being faithful and honest and in trust. It is an institution I truly believe in. I am not defending anything, people are right in their place if they have an issue with it. I just felt disappointed that they felt I am endorsing certain things that I do not. I can clarify now and say no I do not endorse infidelity. I never have, never will. It is something I have not put up in the past in my life as well,” she said.
This is not the first time that the actress has received heat on social media. She has earlier faced criticism for marrying a younger guy and also for commenting on against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s good governance.

Good governance is not about selfies n making us do yoga, it's making sure ur citizens r safe.” After which netizens trolled her saying, “@NehaDhupia what you have done for our country instead of doing flop films, let them work and give them some time” and “. @NehaDhupia Hello darling, the real question is do we need to hear about good governance from someone who does movies like Julie for a living ?”
