Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who had humble beginnings has become a household name thanks to his Bollywood career. Siddiqui told ETimes, “If they need fair people, then they need me as well. I am in demand.” He also added that ‘kale rang ki aaj kafi demand hai’ (darker complexions are in demand nowadays).
He further said that the beauty that a camera can capture is very different. “That is an honest kind of beauty. If I am honest in front of the camera, the audience won’t realise, but even I’ll start looking beautiful.”

Talking about unconventional looks

Siddiqui gave the example of Rinku Rajguru in Sairat to illustrate his point about real beauty vs. camera beauty. “Despite having an unconventional look her presence in the film starts mesmerising you after a few minutes. At one point while watching the film I actually remarked, ‘Yeh ladki kitni khoobsurat hai’ (This girl is so beautiful),” he said.
While we're glad he recognises that beauty is all about perception, his comments about Rajguru can be misconstrued as off-handed and unnecessary. If and when stars get a platform to voice their opinions on colourism, they should completely condemn it.
On the work front, Siddiqui was last seen as an antagonist in Heropanti 2, opposite Tiger Shroff. He will next be seen in the neo-noir revenge drama Haddi and the romantic film Tikku Weds Sheru, produced by Kangana Ranaut.
