Magh Gupt Navratri is a nine-day important Hindi festival dedicated to worshipping the nine forms of goddess Shakti. The significant occasion takes place four times a year. While Shardiya Navratri and Chaitra Navratri are known to everyone, the other two are hidden and thus known as Gupt Navratri. They fall between the Magha and Ashada months. This year, the Magha Navratri will commence on January 30 and will conclude on February 7, 2025. The nine-day festival is significant for spiritual seekers and tantric practitioners who perform special rituals to attain divine blessings.
Below are the days, auspicious timings, and rituals for each day:
The first day of Navratri marks the installation of the holy pot and the start of fasting. Devotees worship Goddess Shailputri, the embodiment of purity and strength. Auspicious timings are morning—9:25 AM to 10:46 AM and afternoon—12:13 PM to 12:56 PM.
Ritual: Ghatasthapana and Shailputri Puja are performed on the first day.
On the second day of Navratri, Goddess Brahmacharini is worshipped for her embodiment of self-control and asceticism, guiding devotees towards serenity and spiritual growth.
Ritual: Brahmacharini Puja will take place on the second day.
On the third day, Goddess Chandraghanta is worshipped, granting her followers courage, strength, and protection.
Ritual: The Chandraghanta Puja is observed by devotees.
Goddesses Skandamata and Kushmanda are worshipped, with devotees seeking their blessings for good health and the strength to overcome challenges.
Ritual: Kushmanda Puja and Skandamata Puja are performed on this day.
On the fifth day, Goddess Katyayani, Durga's warrior form, is worshipped for inner strength, prosperity, and protection from evil.
Ritual: Katyayani Puja takes place on this day.
On the sixth day, Goddess Kalaratri is worshipped, believed to destroy negativity and bring peace and clarity.
Ritual: The Kalaratri Puja is scheduled to be observed on this day.
Ashtami is a sacred day in Navratri, celebrating Goddess Durga's triumph over demons. Devotees worship Mahagauri, symbolising purity, and perform Sandhi Puja, a powerful ritual invoking Durga's blessings.

On the eighth day, Goddess Siddhidatri is worshipped, granting success and wisdom, as the Navratri devotional journey nears its end.
Ritual: On the second last day of the nine-day festival, devotees observe Siddhidatri Puja.
On the final day of Magha Gupta Navratri, devotees break their fast, worship Goddess Durga, and perform Navratri Parana, marking the end of the festival and the nine forms of the goddess.
Ritual: Devotees observe Magha Gupta Navratri Parana after 07:06 AM, with the Tithi beginning at 12:35 AM and ending at 10:53 PM.
