The much-awaited episode five of House of the Dragon has been released on Hotstar, and it was indeed what fans were expecting. Packed with drama, politics and blood, the episode uncovers many truths and leaves fans with many questions. Spoilers ahead.
Daemon Murders His Wife

In the opening scene, Lady Rhea Royce, Prince Daemon’s wife, was seen setting off to hunt a dear. She was only a few miles from the castle, where she encountered Daemon waiting for her in a cloak. She asked him of his business to meet with her.
In turn, Daemon was seen taking the hold of the horse. Soon, Lady Rhea fell from her ride and was unable to move. The scene ends with Daemon picking up a big rock.
King Viserys only comes to know of Lady Rhea’s death when discussing the marriage proposal between Rhaenyra Targaryen and her cousin, Laenor Velaryon, with Lord Corlys and Princess Rheanys Targaryen.
Queen Alicent Hightower Comes To Know The Truth

King Viserys I has a new Hand, Lord Lyonel. His son meets the Queen in the backyard and mentions that the Princess was ill. He mentioned a tea was sent to her to get rid of any consequences (child from her alleged sexual encounter with her uncle Daemon).
When the Princess and the King return from the house of Velayron, Alicent summons Ser Criston Cole. She asked him about the wrongdoings of the Rhaenyra with Daemon. However, he understood that she was asking about the night he spent with her. He confessed, making Alicent wonder if her father, Lord Otto, was right, and she was wrong to believe her
friend.
Rhaenyra And Laenor Make An Agreement

While taking a walk on the coast, Rheanyra mentions to Lord Laenor her eating preferences. She says to him that their marriage would be about fulfilling their duties to the iron throne.
She also mentioned that their marriage does not necessarily have to change their appetite. It was not a reference for food but a preference for partners they would like to bed in future. Laenor preferred to be with a man, while Rhaenyra hoped to continue her relationship with Ser Criston.
Bloody Wedding Of Rhaenyra And Cousin Laenor

What started to be an announcement for a seven-day celebration of unison between the houses of Targaryen and Velayron, ended in blood and marriage.
Laenor’s love interest was seen speaking with Ser Criston about his relationship with the Princess. He also mentioned that the two of them should keep their mouths shut, benefit from the wedding and continue to serve the people they love.

While the dance was in progress in the hall, Daemon took Rhaenyra to the side and asked her if she wanted this marriage. Rhaenyra taunts him saying since when her whims and wishes did matter to him? She even asked him to marry her if he was worried about her.
While this was going on, the crowd grew haphazard due to a fight which ended in Ser Criston killing Laenor’s love interest. The bloody wedding does not end here. While witnessing the fight, the King started bleeding from his nose.

In the end, Rhaenyra Tragaryen weds Laenor, and the episode ends with the King falling to the ground.
It will be interesting to see how things unfold from this point on. How do the politics of the seven realms untangle after witnessing the fall of the King?
