Fatima Sana Shaikh, the popular Bollywood actor of Dangal fame, posted a mirror selfie last year to spread awareness about epilepsy, a brain disorder that causes “recurring, unprovoked seizures due to disturbed nerve cell activity living in the brain.”
In 2022, she announced the Epilepsy Awareness Challenge with her selfie and urged her viewers to share their story about epilepsy.

Wearing a stylish plaid jumper, the actor posted a grainy mirror selfie and wrote that she just wanted to post a photo to talk about epilepsy. “Koi relevance nahi hai photo aur topic ka (There is no relation between the photo and the topic.)”
Shaikh started her note by mentioning what epilepsy is and wrote, “Epilepsy is a brain disorder that causes recurring, unprovoked seizures due to disturbed nerve cell activity living in the brain.”
She added that one is often diagnosed with the disorder if they have two or more unprovoked seizures and that it may occur as a result of a genetic disorder or a brain injury, but many people never know the cause.

She concluded her post by sharing the Epilepsy Awareness Challenge 2022, and asked her audience to participate by sharing their own stories of epilepsy.
