Sustainability today is no longer just a buzzword. With time, people are consciously making sustainable choices for a healthier, safer planet. Many celebrities too are doing their bit and acknowledging mother earth by venturing into businesses, and programs that aim to make this world an eco-friendly place. Dia Mirza is one of the many celebrity sustainable advocates.
Dia Mirza over the years has become the voice of environment conservation. She works as the UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador and is also an active investor in eco-conscious brands.
Dia Mirza recently joined hands with Allter, India's first sustainable baby care and hygiene brand founded by Surbhi Bafna Gupta.
Dia Mirza On Choosing A Sustainable Lifestyle For Her Child
Speaking of the collaboration and the reason for taking the sustainable route for her child, Dia Mirza said, “As a mother, I wanted my baby’s journey to be earth friendly and safe for his health. Even before Avyaan was born, I spent a long time looking for plastic-neutral, safe products and during my research found that most diapers contain a plethora of harsh chemicals and take centuries to decompose.”
“So it was a sense of great satisfaction when the first diaper I used on my baby was an Allter diaper! Something as indispensable as a baby diaper should be created with sensitivity and care and thankfully Allter understands this and has launched an extensive range of India's first certified rash-free, zero-chemical diapers and baby wipes. As a mom and an eco-investor eager to support sustainable alternatives, I feel happy and proud to associate with Allter because it is not just a brand but a mission to keep our babies and the planet safe. At the end of the day the choices we make will impact the future of many generations to come and as a brand, we are trying to inspire the next generation of changemakers,” she added.

Further, we asked Gupta to share tips for parents who wish to follow sustainable parenting. Parents, take notes -
- Firstly, start small.
- Take the products your child uses daily and see what you can swap out for more sustainable alternatives. For instance, in the case of babies, one can always switch to eco-friendly diapers and wipes, to begin with, and then move on to other things such as clothing and toys.
- For older kids, the key is to invest in items that will last them longer so you don’t end up wasting money and resources on buying things repeatedly.
- Book sharing, and using hand-me-downs are some ways in which your child not only learns to be more sustainable but also learns important life lessons in sharing with others.
