The world of dating is continuously evolving. There are new terms, and some of the old terms now mean different things. There is a whole range of terms people use while dating to compare if their relationship has run its course or if there is scope for exploration. There are a few red and green flags as well but there's more to it.
While most of these "flags" are subjective, having a rough idea about what they are and what they stand for can help a few people know when it is time to break it off or worth a shot.
What Are Beige Flags?
Unlike red and green flags, beige flags do not exist in extremes. They help you identify if the person you are dating is putting in as much effort as you are or if they are trying to play safe.
An example of a beige flag is when discussing hobbies. If their dating profile only includes regular hobbies like sleeping or exercising, it points out that they did not put any effort into updating the section.
Your conversation with them might go dull and uninteresting. Of course, it is subjective. If you are someone who thinks that sleeping can be a legit hobby or is your favourite pastime too, maybe you would find common grounds to talk.
Examples Of Beige Flags
Reference To Mainstream Sitcom
If the person is looking for a Penny for their Leonard or a Monica for their Chandler, it shows that they are stuck in a time when these shows were everywhere. It also points to the fact that their choices have not been updated with time.
If they are quoting line after line of a particular show, which in today’s times is considered outdated, you might want to think twice about dating them. All these old shows are a guilty pleasure, but most people have also moved on from them.
Call Themselves A 'Plant Parent'
If a person owns an entire nursery or has a passion for gardening that is a different thing than owning a cactus or keeping a money plant alive. The former ones are self-proclaimed plant parents while the other kids are just bragging about something insignificant. A plant parent is someone who knows the ins and outs about the lush green babies they own. This is not an out-there red flag. It depends on how obsessive they are.
Sarcasm Speak
Sarcasm can be fun, especially if it is like Chandler’s. However, you must remember that overdoing it can irritate anyone, even if you are as good as Mr Bing. When a person goes all out on sarcasm, it makes them appear a bit condescending, arrogant and rude. You might want to stay away from a person who always talks like that or calls themselves fluent in sarcasm.

Label Themselves As Foodies
Foodie is one of the most-used terms these days. However, if the conversation finishes right there, you would not have anything else to talk about in future. If the person shares specifics about dishes or their favourite cuisines, you could have a lot to discuss the next time you talk, text or meet.
Looking For Someone To Go On Adventures With
In today’s times, more and more people are all about discovering the world. However, it is interesting to ask the person you are dating how they define the term ‘adventure.’ Is it water rafting, hiking, bungee jumping, skydiving or taking an evening walk and discovering a coffee shop?

General Hobbies
As mentioned above, hobbies include painting, reading or doing something that is not part of your routine. Sleeping, exercising or eating ideally do not fall under hobbies. It means they did not even go out of their way to Google the word ‘hobby’ before filling in the section on their dating profile.

Beige flags are mere red flags in a lighter hue. They are not as visible as the red ones but exist below the surface. For some people, they might be invisible if they share the same interest with the person, for others, it could seem like a dead end if they cannot carry forward any conversation with the person.
