Ashneer Grover, the ex-BharatPe MD and television personality, who became famous for his appearance as a judge on Shark Tank India season one, will be missing from the judging panel this season. With season two in line to be aired on Sony TV, Grover revealed the reason behind his absence.

In a recent interview with Red FM, Grover who was promoting his autobiography ‘Doglapan’, was asked if Shark Tank was unable to rope him for season two because they were unable to afford him. Replying to the question with a laugh, Grover said, “Afford sirf paise se nahi hota, aukaat se hota hai (You just cannot afford a person through money, it’s about status as well).”
Reportedly, Grover was removed by BharatPe, the fintech giant from all titles and positions last year amid claims of grave governance lapses under him. In 2020, Paytm and other payment applications filed a lawsuit against Grover and his company for distributing pamphlets claiming that Paytm and other companies were not purely India-based companies. They also requested the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to take action against BharatPe.

Grover was even asked about being approached to participate in the reality show Bigg Boss. To which he boldly said that no one would ever see him on that show.
He flippantly explained the reason behind his decision to never appear on the hit reality show, “Failed individuals go on that show, not successful people…There was a time when I used to watch the show, but I feel it’s become stale now. They approached me, I said sorry, it is not happening.”
In the recent ratings revealed by the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), Bigg Boss 16 has reached the top 10 list in terms of television rating points (TRPs). At the 8th spot, it has left behind popular daily soaps like Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Udaariyaan, Kundali Bhagya and Naagin 6.
Amit Jain, CEO and co-founder of CarDekho Group and InsuranceDekho.com will be replacing Grover on the show.
