Ashneer Grover, founder of India’s popular online money transaction platforms, BharatPe, is not going to be a ‘shark’ for the upcoming season of the popular Sony TV reality show Shark Tank India. Namita Thapar, the executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, has indirectly commented on Grover’s absence. Thapar was also a ‘shark’ on the first season of the show, and is expected to return for the second season.
She tweeted that Shark Tank India is not only about one person and wrote, “One person doesn’t make or break a show…not me, not anybody…this show is about celebrating our entrepreneurs, job creators…it’s about teaching masses business concepts through beautiful stories of these nation builders..focus on that & the hard work put in by the team.”

Will Ashneer Grover’s absence hit the popularity of the show?
Being an investor in the first season, Grover gained notoriety on the show. His blunt comments and unfiltered behaviour with the contestants made his fans create memes. His statement, “Ye doglapan hai” (These are double standards) became a popular one-liner among the viewers.
While he was on the show, his bio mentioned that he was the co-founder and managing director of BharatPe, however, he was forced to exit the organisation after weeks of conflict between him and the management.

Real money, Real investments
Thapar also reacted to a Twitter user’s comments who wrote that Shark Tank India is like any other TV show whose main purpose is to get TRPs, and claimed that the business pitches on it are not real.
Are u serious ? Coz it’s my ‘real’ money I’m putting in.. what do u mean by it’s not a real pitch ??!! It’s easy to talk & whine & judge … tough to give time, energy, mentorship & money.. https://t.co/oRK7H2vpy5

Replying to the user, she said that he could possibly not be serious about his statement because it is her ‘real’ money being put in. “What do you mean by it’s not a real pitch? It’s easy to talk, whine and judge, but tough to give time, energy, mentorship & money,” she added.
She continued that it is for everybody to see if authenticity and cause win over judgement and toxicity. “What does new India really want out of life?”
It also looks like MamaEarth co-founder Gazal Alagh will not be returning for this season as she was not featured in the second season’s teaser. CEO and co-founder of CarDekho Group, Amit Jain, will be a new judge on the show.
