Motherhood changes your life. A few days into becoming a mother and you find yourself juggling multiple roles. That balancing act takes away a lot from the new mother. Things are doubly taxing for celebrities since they are always under scrutiny. More than the fight with the world outside, it is the multiple fights we mothers have in our heads every day. Amidst all this continuous tussle are all the labels are thrown at moms - ‘She isn’t a good mother’, ‘How will she raise her child well if she works’, ‘These days women prioritise themselves’, ‘To become a good mother, women should quit their jobs’, the shaming is brutal and only adds to the enormous pressures of a mother.
This Mother’s Day, with the Good Mother Project, HerZindagi intends to celebrate women who rose above the abyss and chose to follow their hearts. Anita Hassnandani is one such mother.
When I earlier spoke to actor and entrepreneur Anita Hassanandani on the challenges of being a mother, mom guilt in particular, she said, “I have been a career woman. I have been working since the age of 16. I do have these kinds of fights in my head where some days I just don't want to do anything and be with my son Aarav and some days I am like 'what am I doing'." Hassnandani is not the only mother who struggled to decide for herself. Every day, mothers undergo a similar state of confusion, trying to make the best decision for their children and themselves.
‘Every Mother Is A Good Mother’
I asked Anita Hassanandani, who was a good mother according to her. She said, "A good mother is the one trying her best to give the best to her little one in any and every situation, every kind of circumstance, basically putting her best effort to give their little one the best. Also, I feel a good mother is the one who enjoys her motherhood. We all get so carried away when people give us advice and stress over silly things. Trust me, blink of an eye and your little one is all grown up. My son Aarav is two and talking, I look at him and I am like I should have enjoyed him slightly more than I did because they grow up so quickly. So, it is all about enjoying being a mother. It's the most beautiful thing that can happen to a woman."
"Every mother is a good mother. Parenthood, to be a mother is extremely challenging and every mother wants to do the best for their child. Every mother is trying to do her best no matter what. She will do her best because every mom wants the best for her little one. Every single mother is a superwoman and the best and I love all mommies in the world," she added.

Happy Mothers Raise Healthy and Happy Children
Hassanandani, today is an actor and an entrepreneur. She is the founder of a clean beauty brand, Better Beauty. She chose to do what made her happy and didn't give up on the world. The actor feels that it isn’t healthy for women to quit their jobs after having a baby because she feels women can raise a happy child only if they are happy and for that, they should continue doing what they love.

She said, "Honestly, the fact remains that if a mother is happy, the child is happy. If the mother is happy, the child will have a great atmosphere to grow up. So, I think it is important that the mother is happy. Mothers should do what makes them happy. Work, prioritise your child, prioritise your workout, the idea is to do whatever makes the mother happy."
