UPSC 2021: Shruti Sharma Secures First Spot; Women Claim Top Four Ranks

The Union Public Service Commission, or UPSC, released the final results for the UPSC Civil Services examination 2021 today on May 30, and Shruti Sharma has secured all-India Rank 1 in one of the world's most difficult exams.

Shruti Sharma emerged as the topper among the 685 candidates who got selected for various posts in the All-India Civil Services and Central Services - Group A and Group B.

Shruti Sharma is from Bijnor, a town in Uttar Pradesh, who did her schooling at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Delhi. She graduated from St. Stephen's College with a bachelor's degree in history and then dropped out of JNU to pursue a master's degree in sociology at Delhi School of Economics.

She prepared for the UPSC examination at Jamia Millia Islamia Residential Coaching Academy (RCA) in the last 2 years.

In an interview with NDTV, Shruti Sharma revealed that she made her own notes from newspapers and relied on NCERT books for preparations.

Girls Bag Top Four Positions

Following Shruti Sharma, Ankita Agarwal, Gamini Singla and Aishwarya Verma secured AIR rank 2, 3 and 4 respectively. This year, the top 4 positions are secured by girl candidates. This is the first time when all 4 top positions are bagged by girls in UPSC Examinations.

Other Toppers Of UPSC Examinations 2021

Utkarsh Dwivedi (AIR 5), Yaksh Chaudhary (AIR 6), Samyak S Jain (AIR 7), Ishita Rathi (AIR 8), Preetam Kumar (AIR 9) and Harkeerat Singh Randhawa (AIR 10) are among the top ten scorers of the examination.

All the toppers of the UPSC Civil Services examinations have been selected based on their performance in 3 rounds combined: prelims exam, mains exam and the interview roundthat was conducted by UPSC.
