Aashiqui 3: Kartik Aaryan To Star In Anurag Basu Directorial

Aashiqui 3 will be produced by T-Series and Vishesh Films.

Actor Kartik Aaryan is on a roll and is all set to star in the third instalment of the hit romantic musical drama franchise Aashiqui. The film will be directed by Anurag Basu.

The Aashiqui franchise is produced by T-Series and Vishesh Films along with Mahesh Bhatt and the third instalment will be backed by them as well.

Taking to his social media, Aaryan shared a picture with Basu, Bhatt, music composer Pritam, and Bhushan Kumar and captioned it “Team A”.

Talking about the film, the actor said, “The timeless classic ‘Aashiqui’ is something I grew up watching and working on Aashiqui 3is like a dream come true. I feel privileged yet grateful collaborating with Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt for this opportunity. I’ve been a big fan of Anurag Basu’s work and collaborating with him on this one will definitely shape me in many ways.”

While director Basu said, "Aashiqui and Aashiqui 2were emotions for the fans that has remained in hearts till date, the aim is to carry the legacy ahead in the best possible way. It’d be my first venture with Kartik Aaryan, who is known for his hard work, dedication, grit and determination towards his work and I’m truly looking forward to this one.”

Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, the first instalment titled Aashiqui was released in 1990 starring Rahul Roy, Anu Aggarwal, and Deepak Tijori in Pivotal roles. Rahul (played by Roy) meets Anu (played by Aggarwal) in a police station after damaging properties and getting into a fight when his father marries his second wife. They fall in love and when the time to reunite comes, fate has some other plans.

While the second instalment titled Aashiqui 2 starred Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead and released in 2013. Set in the early 2010s, the Mohit Suri directorial is a remake of the 1937 American romantic film A Star is Born. The Hindi remake narrates the story of a turbulent romantic relationship between a failing singer Rahul Jaykar (Aditya) dealing with anger issues and alcoholism and a rising star Aarohi Keshav Shirke (Sharddha).

Aaryan recently gave one of the biggest hit films of his career with the sequel of Bhool Bhulaiyaa. The film also starred Kiara Advani and Tabu and became the highest-grossing film of the year. The film released in May and collected a gross worldwide collection of Rs 266 crores.
