How To Prepare Zunka Bhakar?

  • Place a wok on the stove on medium heat. Add oil.
  • Add mustard seeds and allow them to crackle.
  • Then add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Sauté for 30 seconds.
  • Add ginger, green chillies, garlic, turmeric powder, besan and salt and onions. Sauté well, and cover with a lid for a minute.
  • Then add 1½ cups water and keep stirring for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Once cooked, prepare the tempering.
  • In a pan, heat oil.
  • Add mustard seeds, asafoetida garlic, curry leaves and red chillies.
  • Sauté on a medium flame for a minute or two.
  • Add the tempering to the prepared zunka and close the lid.
  • After 30 seconds, remove the lid, and give the zunka a good mix.
  • Add garnishes and serve with chapati.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Gram Flour
  • 1 Cup Finely Chopped Onions
  • ¼ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 3 Tablespoons Oil
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • ½ Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • ¼ Teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 1 Teaspoon Chopped Ginger
  • 2 Tablespoons Finely Chopped Green Chillies
  • 2 Tablespoons Chopped Garlic
  • ½ Cup Chopped Coriander
  • 8 To 10 Curry Leaves
  • Salt To Taste

  1. Step 1:

    Heat oil in a wok.

    Add mustard seeds and let them crackle.

  3. Step 3:

    Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Cook for 30 seconds.

  4. Step 4:

    Then sauté for a minute.

    Also add mustard seeds, asafoetida garlic, curry leaves and red chillies.

    Once cooked, add the tempering to zunka in the wok.
