Ingredients

  • 1 cup maida
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Water as per need
  • 1 cup yellow moong dal
  • 1 tbsp chopped ginger
  • 2 chopped green chillies
  • Oil for frying and stuffing
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • A bit of hing
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds powder
  • 1 tsp amchoor powder
  • Salt to taste

Step

  • Step 1 :

    Take flour, salt and oil in a bowl and mix the oil into the flour.

  • Step 2 :

    Make a batter using flour, salt and oil.

  • Step 3 :

    Add some water to it to make a soft dough and let it rest for 30 mins.

  • Step 4 :

    Next, soak the moong dal for 3 hours.

  • Step 5 :

    Drain the dal and then using a blender, add chillies and ginger and blend the ingredients but not into a paste, it has to be a little coarse.

  • Step 6 :

    Now heat some oil in a pan and add in the cumin seeds and let them sizzle.

  • Step 7 :

    Now add in the spice powders barring the amchoor, fennel seed powder, and mix well.

  • Step 8 :

    Add the ground dal mix and cook till thickens. Keep stirring.

  • Step 9 :

    Add fennel seed powder and amchoor and mix well.

  • Step 10 :

    Remove it from heat and let it cool down. Then shape it into balls.

  • Step 11 :

    Now take the dough balls and fill them with the mixture.

  • Step 12 :

    Seal the edges and flatten them gently and deep fry.

  • Step 13 :

    Serve hot with tea.
