Chana Dal Paratha Recipe
Chana dal paratha is a delicious and nutritious dish that combines the goodness of chana dal (split chickpeas) with whole wheat flour and spices. Chana dal is a rich source of protein, which is essential for the body. Incorporating chana dal into parathas adds a protein boost to your meal, making it more satisfying and nutritious. Chana dal is also high in dietary fibre, which is beneficial for digestive health. Let's take a look into the steps of preparing this easy chana dal paratha:
How To Make Chana Dal Paratha Recipe
1. First, rinse the soaked chana dal, drain the excess water, and transfer it to a mixer jar. Blend the dal in the mixer until it forms a coarse paste. Ensure not to over-grind; we want some texture to remain for a delightful mouthfeel. Transfer the ground dal to a bowl and set aside for later use.
2. Now add in the Chana dal mix with chopped onions, green chillies, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, salt, red chilli powder, dried mango powder, and coriander leaves.
3. Now prepare the paratha dough. In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, a pinch of salt, and water as needed to form a soft and pliable dough. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls and cover them with a damp cloth. Let them rest for about 15-20 minutes.
4. Now take a dough ball and roll it out into a small circle on a floured surface. Place a spoonful of the prepared chana dal filling in the centre of the circle.
5. Gather the edges of the dough to enclose the filling and pinch to seal. Gently flatten the stuffed dough ball and roll it out into a round paratha, ensuring that the filling is evenly distributed. Heat a griddle or tawa over medium heat and place the rolled paratha on it.
6. Cook for a minute or two on one side, then flip and cook on the other side. Spread a little ghee or oil on both sides and cook until golden brown spots appear, ensuring the paratha is cooked through.
7. Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling to make more parathas.
8. Serve the chana dal parathas hot with a bowl of yoghurt, pickle, or chutney.
