Most Indian households practise the traditional way of cooking Kadhi which involves the usage of gram flour. But in our Navratri recipe series, we got you an unconventional recipe for preparing Kadhi which involves potatoes. It might sound strange but it tastes divine. Indians love curries and potatoes are their favourite ingredients to use while making curries. However, when it comes to Kadhi, gram flour is the main ingredient. Amidst Navratri festivities, if you are bored of that cliche aloo ka falahar, then you can try this Aloo Ki Kadhi recipe which tastes ravishing. It’s an easy, light and delicious curry that boasts an amalgamation of potatoes, singhare ka atta and chillies. You can accompany this curry with Kuttu ke aate ki puri.

Here’s a step-by-step recipe to make Aloo Ki Kadhi:
Step 1: Take ginger, garlic, green chillies, coriander and a little water in a grinder and make a fine paste. Keep it aside.
Step 2: Meanwhile, take yoghurt, and gram flour, and add half a cup of water in a bowl. Combine them well into a thick paste. Add one cup of water more or as needed.
Step 3: Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt to the gram flour paste. Mix them well and keep them aside.
Step 4: Heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Saute for 30 seconds.
Step 5: Add asafoetida and the prepared mixture of green chilli into the pan. Mix them well and saute for 30 seconds.
Step 6: Now add a little amount of water to the mixing jar, shake well and add it to the pan. Mix well and saute for 2-3 minutes.
Step 7: Pour the gram flour mixture into the pan, mix well and cook for 8-10 minutes.
Step 8: Add Amchur powder and mix well.
Step 9: Now mash the potatoes and add them to the pan. Mix well and cook for another 4-5 minutes.
Step 10: Turn off the flame and serve with poori.

Aloo Ki Kadhi is a combination of mashed potatoes and Gram flour.
Blend ginger, garlic, green chillies, coriander and a little water in a grinder.
Mix yoghurt, and gram flour, and add half a cup of water in a bowl.
Mix turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt into the gram flour paste.
