Satin nightwear has always been in trend because of its shiny fabric and feminine appeal. Also, it has been the first choice, especially among brides. As we are gearing up for winter and wedding season is around the corner, there has been confusion about the viability of satin as a fabric for nightwear in winter. We spoke to fashion influencers to get a deeper understanding of satin as a fabric.
Fashion Influencer, Sheetal Pattnaik said, “Satin night suits are my absolute favourite in winter. They’re light and silky but somehow still keep me warm without being too hot. I love how soft they feel against my skin, especially when the air is cold and dry. Unlike thicker fabrics that can feel heavy or bulky, satin is smooth and breathable, making it super comfortable to sleep in.”
“What really stands out for me is that they are cosy while still looking elegant. They’re perfect for lounging around in, but they also make me feel a little more put together, even if I’m just heading to bed. Plus, they don’t irritate my skin, which can get sensitive in the winter. For me, satin night suits are the perfect mix of comfort and style for colder nights,” she added.
Content Creator And Ex-Actor, Shivangi Sharma said “Satin night suits might look great, but they’re not the best for winter. The fabric is too light and doesn’t keep you warm, so you might end up feeling cold. It’s better to go for something cosier like flannel or thermal PJs when it’s chilly”.
Fashion Influencer, Upasana Kochhar said that satin, synonymous with luxury, offers numerous practical benefits that make it an exceptional choice for winter wear, extending well beyond its mere aesthetics.
Here are the advantages of satin nightwear:
Upasana highlights that satin (satin suit designs) nightwears are crafted from fibres like silk or polyester, its dense weave serves as an effective insulator, effectively trapping heat to fend off the chill while simultaneously allowing for breathability that helps moisture escape. She further adds that this duality is crucial during winter, as it combats the discomfort of sweat buildup, ensuring that the body remains both dry and comfortably warm.
Upasana emphasises that satin's opulent texture glides gently against the skin, reducing friction and irritation, which is especially advantageous during the colder months when skin tends to be more sensitive and prone to dryness.
Upasana mentions that the fabric’s remarkable versatility allows it to be layered effortlessly beneath heavier outerwear, creating stylish ensembles that retain a streamlined and sleek silhouette. This quality allows satin garments to harmonise beautifully with bulkier pieces while exuding polished refinement.
Upasana highlights that satin’s rich colour saturation and reflective surface can enliven the often-muted winter palette, adding a touch of vibrancy that brightens even the dreariest of days.
I was looking to incorporate new additions to my nightwear collection and while looking for options I came across Clovia which features a variety of nightwear. I thought of trying new stuff and thus I got two satin fabrics featuring nightwear from their collection. One of the nightwear featured a floral printed button-down shirt and a pyjama in white and the other was a printed short night dress with a robe. Though the looks and fit of the nightwear were good, the slippery appeal of the fabric didn’t suit my body type.
