Why You Should Visit Kanthalloor In Kerala As A Female Traveller?

Kanthalloor has set an example by becoming India's first panchayat to implement women-friendly tourism practices. From implementing a destination security scheme to women-only tour packages, Kanthalloor has implemented many schemes to ensure the safety of female travellers. Along with this, special training to local female hosts has also been given for a smooth process. This was done in collaboration with UN Women.

The village was even awarded the prestigious ‘Gold’ award of the Government of India for the Best Rural Tourism Projects. Tourism Minister Shri P. A. Mohamed Riyas talked about how the panchayat of Kanthalloor achieved this milestone and said: "Villages and local communities can contribute immensely to the government’s relentless efforts to turn Kerala into a major experiential tourism hub."

At Kanthalloor, the STREET (Sustainable, Tangible, Responsible, Experiential, Ethnic Tourism) tourism project of the RTM was implemented to achieve this incredible milestone.

“Kanthalloor already holds the distinction of being the country’s first panchayat to implement women-friendly tourism, for which several programmes were held in collaboration with UN Women. As part of this, the ‘destination security’ scheme was implemented, and special women’s tour packages were drawn up,” he added.

Located in the Western Ghats of India, Kanthalloor is known for its pleasant climate and picturesque locations. It is also popular for its wide variety of crops, which are not usually seen in other parts of Kerala.
