7 One-Day Treks Around Bengaluru This Weekend

Let’s be honest, living in Bengaluru means having brilliant hills right on your doorstep. But most weekend warriors just end up stuck in traffic on their way to the same spots, Skandagiri, Savandurga, or Nandi Hills. While those trails are undeniably great, you don't always want to share your summit with a hundred other people.
If you want a proper outdoor experience without the crushing crowds, you need to look a bit further afield. We have mapped out seven incredible, lesser-known day treks around the city.
Harihara Betta Trek

Located near Chikkaballapur, Harihara Betta makes for an effortless day trip. If you keep a steady pace, the ascent takes less than an hour. You will pass a beautiful ancient temple on your way up, which adds a nice touch of history to the walk. Once you hit the summit, you get sweeping views across the entire Chikkaballapur district and its surrounding villages. Because the distance is short and the terrain is so simple, it is a fantastic choice for families and beginner hikers.

Horagina Betta Trek
Also sitting in the Chikkaballapur region, Horagina Betta completely transforms after the monsoon, bursting with wild flowers and seasonal berries. From the top, you get brilliant panoramic views looking right out over Nandi Hills. It is the perfect choice if you want manageable terrain and a genuinely quiet atmosphere.
Channarayana Durga Trek
If you want to mix a physical workout with a bit of history, point your car towards Tumkur for this trek. The route takes you straight through historical fort ruins, complete with old walls, gateways, ancient reservoirs, and watchpoints. To reach the top, you have to scramble over massive boulders. Take extra care if you visit during the rainy season, as these rocks get incredibly slippery and quite dangerous.
Minchukallu Betta Trek
Starting from Masanipalya village near Tumkur, this trail turns wonderfully lush during the wet months. Because nobody has clearly marked the path to the summit, the whole climb feels like a proper mini-exploration. You walk past old fort remnants and a small temple as you figure out the route up. Once you reach the peak, you get clear, uninterrupted views of Devarayanadurga and Jenukallu Gudda.

Ramadevara Betta Trek
This trail offers a completely different landscape compared to the usual dry scrub forests you find around Bengaluru. You walk through dense clusters of bamboo before reaching a wide summit plateau that hides a small, totally unexpected lake. It gives you plenty of environmental diversity to keep the walk interesting, without turning your weekend into a massive physical grind.
