An epic period drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, this super controversial film is loosely based on the epic poem 'Padmavat' by Malik Muhammad Jayasi. It was not just the film but the amazing chemistry between Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and the director of the film Sanjay Leela Bhansali, that grabbed attention as it was their third film together. While Deepika essayed Rani Padmavati, a Rajput queen known for her beauty, wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh, Shaid Kapoor played Ratan Singh. Sultan Alauddin Khilji was played by Ranveer Singh, with immense support from characters essayed by Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Raza Murad, and Anupriya Goenka.

This film was shot at Masai Pathar which lies in the state of Maharashtra. It is an offbeat location which can be explored by dedicated trekkers or picnicker seekers for a peaceful weekend retreat. This plateau is located in Kolhapur, where the makers had to shoot the film as they were forced to leave Jaipur city on account of adding factually incorrect scenes in the movie.
