Fake Garlic Made With Cement? Truth Behind The Viral Video

After bursting many fake food-producing industries, another shocking incident has surfaced. Followed by the maleficent manufacturing of essential edibles like paneer (cottage cheese) and soya chaap, garlic is the new element of the experiment. Recently, fake garlic was spotted being sold openly in Maharashtra’s Akola district. A video of the same has surfaced exposing the horrific act as these fake vegetables are made with cement. Garlic prices are rising at skyrocketing rates. The prices have crossed the ₹300 mark (per kilogram) in many Indian regions. Under such expensive conditions, the wife of a retired police officer, Subhash Patil, discovered fake garlic being sold openly at the vendors, as per a Zee 24 Taas report. 

The report further added that she bought 250 grams of garlic cloves from a local vegetable vendor in the Akola district of Maharashtra. On reaching home, she tried to peel the garlic but was unable to do so. She proceeded to cut it with a knife and shockingly found cement inside, coated with white paint on the exteriors to make it look real. In a video, she spoke about the incident and highlighted how this malicious act by the vendor can be a major threat to public health. 

In another video that went viral on X (Twitter), we see the fake garlic and the cement inside with a caption educating citizens about the duplicity.
