With Diwali being celebrated on November 7, the festival of lights is being celebrated with grandeur in Ayodhya this year. Here is all you need to know about the celebrations.

With Diwali being celebrated on November 7, the festival of lights is being celebrated with grandeur in Ayodhya this year, that two2 days before. To mark the auspicious occasion, the festivities began with 14 artistes being flown in from Laos visited Ayodhya and performed Ramayana at Dr. Rammanohar Lohiya Awadh University, Faizabad. The artistes also enacted the kidnapping of Goddess Sita by Ravana.

The crew told media that they were happy to be in the city and that they also perform the Ramayana in Laos during the new year. The drama also had usage of the mask in the performance grabbed the attention of the audience. The background score was specially handcrafted to bring out the essence of each scene. The audience visiting Ayodhya will also get to witness spectacular performances on the Ramayana by artists from different countries such as Russia, Indonesia, Cambodia.

For those who are unaware, The ancient epic of Ramayana is celebrated not only in India but in other South Asian countries as well. It is believed that around 300 versions of the epic poem are known to exist. Generally, the oldest version of Ramayana is attributed to Valmiki. Apart from India, versions of the Ramayana can be found in Burma, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Mongolia, Vietnam and China. Though most versions revolve around the version written by Sage Valmiki, many versions also focus on peripheral characters and their stories.

The festival also had South Korean First Lady Kim-Jung Sook arrive in India on Sunday, to take part in Deepotsav festival and the ceremony of Queen Huh Memorial Park in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya on November 6.

The temple has around 50 families engaging in pottery business, worked on making three lakh lamps which are touted to be a Guinness World Record. For a better comparison, last year's Diwali celebrations had around 1.7 lakh earthen lamps lit at the Ram ki Paudi but this time the Yogi Adityanath government plans to illuminate the event with double the amount of diyas.

Temporary statues of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman are also being constructed on the banks of river Saryu for Diwali celebrations. The entire ghat has been cleaned and hundreds of labourers have worked tirelessly for beautification and renovation of the ghat.

The festival will also have a water show in Saryu River to mark the event.

A Digital Ramayan will also be played at Ram Katha park where artistes performing the role of Lord Ram, Sita and Laxman will be welcomed by the UP CM and other guests. They will be travelling on special 'raths' from the park to the Saryu river.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has also invited all the seers to Ayodhya and has asked them to be a part of Diwali celebration.
