Necromanteion of Ephyra

necromanteion

This is theOracle of the Dead, the necromanteion, which is an ancient temple consecrated to the God of the Underworld, Hades. It is located in Epirus, which is on the banks of the river Acheron and also has underground chambers. Though it sounds eerie but if you are okay with it, then there is no harm in seeing this place once.

Lake Vouliagmeni

The beauty you seek in me is a reflection of you. ► Lake Vouliagmeni, meaning sunken, is a small brackish water lake fed by underground currents seeping through the mass of Mount Hymettus. Ever since ancient times, Athenians have been taking advantage of the healing properties of the natural spring in order to gain better health and aesthetic well being. The lake is a fascinating natural formation, while 30 meters separate it from Vouliagmeni bay, contrary to popular belief, it's not connected to the sea in any way, and although named, sunken, it actually lays elevated 40 cm above sea level and its brackish water is constantly renewed overflowing through numerous crevices into the bay. The water source originates from natural springs emerging from an underwater cave that continues deep inside Mount Hymettus. Strangely enough, the submerged cave has never been fully explored as its end seems impossible to trace, even by employing sonar detection. The water temperature ranges between 24° and 29° Celsius depending on the season, and consists of countless different natural minerals and elements with curative properties, which aid the mood, various skin conditions, reduce hair loss, while helping therapeutically with muscle restoration, bone diseases and various gynaecological problems. Furthermore, a unique tingling sensation is created by the small fish which nibble away at dead skin cells. The curative properties of the water, the biodiversity and natural beauty of the scenery, as well as the rich history, establish the location as a true unrefined paradise. It's amongst the most impressive natural sights of Athens, just 25 km from the centre. Furthermore, the spa has a cafe, a restaurant, and hosts various venues on the grounds surrounding the lake. • • text & photo by Lefterry Bellos © • #limnivouliagmenis #lakevouliagmeni #lake #vouliagmeni #nature #naturalbeauty #loves_athens #loves_greece #greece #travelphotography #thesoulofgreece #2ex #greece_countryside #greecelover_gr #wu_greece #efsyn #westayingreece #greatphotosgreece #streetsingreece #expression_greece #exquisite_greece #kings_greece #kings_villages #igphotographia

Besides theTemple of Zeus and the Parthenon, the Plaka district is a little suburb of Athens which must be paid a visit to. It is just below the Acropolis and a stroll on the cobbled streets here is rather peaceful with a few restaurants and shops sprinkled here and there to keep you occupied.
