The celebrations which include beautiful carols, music, dance, food, the gifting, colours... everything beckons us all to celebrate this festival. Many of even get a number of holidays during that time period. But where to go? Here are some places where you can head to within India to experience the craze besides Delhi.

An obvious one, this state is loved by us all and the Christmas celebration here is a must on many go-to-lists. The Portuguese legacy and Catholic population is a beautiful mix that brings the festival alive. The churches and homes are all decked up with beautiful lights and poinsettia flowers, the kids sing carols and everyone takes part in the midnight mass.

In Meghalaya, there is a considerable population of Christians who celebrate the day with fervor. The homes, churches ad streets are decked up and is a sight to behold. The bands here are famous, gospel music is soulful which makes this places a must-visit. 

Pondicherry

As it is this place is loved by most, the Christmas festivities in this little union territory just off the Tamil Nadu coast are something you cannot miss. Also known as “Little France”, the wonderful architecture, beaches and French cuisine mixed with celebrations mean a lot of merrymaking. Don't miss the Church of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception and Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The state has a considerable Christian population with many churches across the state. The famous holiday is celebrated with great fervor.  The churches whether big or small remain open all night and many sing at the midnight mass.

Kolkata, which had a colonial stronghold back in the day has many celebrations even though there are not many Christians here. The churches look beautiful, bakeries go full throttle... it is beautiful.
