Ingredients needed

    You will need urad dal, rice, ginger, salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, refined oil and some Indian spices.

Step-1

    Wash the urad dal and rice separately. Soak dal for one hour and the rice for half an hour.

Step-2

    In the pressure cooker, add oil, khada masala, cumin seeds and hing followed by ginger and green chilli.

Step-3

    Sauté all the ingredients in the pan for almost a minute. Add some salt, red chilli powder and coriander powder to the drained dal.

Step-4

    Now, roast the dal for five minutes. After that, you can add rice to it.

Step-5

    Add some salt, according to your taste and pressure cook it to 2-3 whistles. Let it simmer for some time.

    Open the cooker and the Khichdi is ready. Serve it hot with dahi.
