Ghamasaan Review: Arshad Warsi And Pratik Gandhi Shine, But Weak Writing Dumps The Climax

Ghamasaan, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, is an Indian crime drama that revolves around a confrontation between a tough gangster from Bundelkhand and the Special Task Force. The film takes place amidst the political tension and revenge in Uttar Pradesh and stars Arshad Warsi as the feared dacoit 'Maharaj' and Pratik Gandhi as Aditya Singh, an IPS Officer. Though Ghamasaan is a technically good film with authentic locations and strong performances, it fails to match the bar set by Tigmanshu Dhulia's previous films such as 'Paan Singh Tomar' due to the predictability of the story.
Ghamasaan Review
The story starts from the wedding ceremony held in Uttar Pradesh in 2006. The groom leaves his father and settles down in Delhi along with his wife and mother. The girl's father, who is working under the Bundelkhand gangster Maharaj (Arshad Warsi), asks her to be a police spy. Maharaj comes to know of this and cuts off her head and leaves her head outside her son's home.
The son picks up the weapon to avenge his father's death. Thus, the ruthlessness of Maharaj and his capacity to shake up the political world becomes known. The elections are going to happen in Bundelkhand. In order to keep Maharaj from disturbing the whole process of elections by occupying the polling centres, Aditya Singh (Pratik Gandhi) from the Special Task Force reaches that place. He prepares his own team.

Weak Screenplay
Ram Yash Singh and Piyush Singh had a great concept, but because of the poor screenplay, they have failed to make it into a film. However, Tigmanshu has set high standards for himself through his previous film Paan Singh Tomar (2012), which was about the life of bandits, but here he fails to live up to it.
The violence of the bandits, living in the jungle, the informer, entering villages forcibly, and raping women is all shown, but nothing comes as a surprise. All of it has been shown in movies of bandits before.
Lack Of Thrill
But it is no twist in the story. However, it follows a linear plot path without any excitement about the logical end of the plot. The skill of Tigmanshu Dhulia in directing the performance of the actors ensures that the story doesn’t become overly dramatic. The music in the film entertains us. The music composed by Anuj Garg gives the story a flavour of Uttar Pradesh. The background music by Siddharth Pandit and Rev Shergill keeps the story from being boring.
Good Cinematography
Filmed in villages and in the forests, the cinematography by Dev Agarwal makes this movie credible. Dialogues are not impressive enough to leave a lasting impression on the viewer’s mind; however, the scenes of the STF team planning to arrest Maharaj and his gang are impressive.
