If you are an avid social media user you must have seen snaps of women flaunting their body hair. Recently, a 21-year-old English television presenter, Laura Jackson, started a campaign called Januhairy, encouraging women to grow out of their body hair. Under this, women around the world, also a few from India begin showing their support with social media selfies. The idea behind the campaign is to make women love and accept their bodies the way it is. Currently, there are around 9756 posts under the hashtag #Januhairy. While we are happy to see women flaunting natural fuzz, here’s how the internet is reacting.
Roshni Sharma, who is one of the top finalists of Miss India Universe 2020 pageant posted a photo of herself taking to her Instagram handle. Clad in a turtle neck bodysuit top, she is looking gorgeous showing off her unshaven legs. She also penned a beautiful caption alongside.
“Rapunzel or cinderella didn't have no parlours or razors! They had beautiful hair and a princess heart . And that's what counts . PS: ALL OF THEM FOUND THEIR TRUE PRINCE! don't groom your externals until your internals needs some cleansing! So dont shame your #bodyhair because it's a #rareseason. It's a part of you and flaunts it for free. Fear is for witches who lack inner beauty. Make this season one of its kind ..and don't worry ..your knight in shining armour will still come ...For your heart and not your hair! #shootathome #quarantinebody #quarantineshoot #fashionathome #clickinquarantine #roshoflove #roshinquarantine #missdiva2020 #beautyqueen #loveyourself #skin #bodygoals #feminism #feauture #modelfromindia #raw #tag,” wrote Roshni.
While many called her “beautiful” and appreciated by commenting,” hats off more power to you,” and “Such an inspiring soul you are.” Others had different opinions. One of her followers said, “But this loving your body hair is not going to work in any pageant.”
A social media influencer, Debasri Deb also shared pictures of her flaunting underarm hair. Her post, wherein she talked about old times when there was no taboo associated with body hair, garnered around 600 likes said, “The Woodstock era fashion was all about colour and statement, but it was more than clothes. It was also about expression of freedom, of liberalisation, of gender equality and gender neutrality. It was all about everything that I believe in. So when I read about the theme of the #costumepartywithS by @spardhamalik being Woodstock 1969, I had to jump on the wagon, and express myself and my beliefs through fashion.”

“The women in those times went braless, showed off their body hair, the men wore flowers on their heads, they were all pushing for gender equality. I have been talking a lot about women's natural hair growth and I decided to go sleeveless to show off my bounty underarm hair. If society back then was okay with it, then what's stopping us now? . . Will be doing two more looks with this theme, since I am that much into this era,” she added.

Love it,” commented one follower. “This post resonates so many echoes of my heart .. yes who’s stopping us now! More power to our tribe... I shave off only when I feel like& I feel so comfortable in the fact,” said another.
