Celebrated folk singer Maithili Thakur has joined BJP today. Reports suggest that she might contest the upcoming Bihar elections from Alinagar in Darbhanga. The party is counting on her to bring in younger voters.
When asked why she joined BJP, Maithili Thakur said that she's always been deeply inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. "Drawing strength from their vision, I have decided to support them. I don't believe that joining a political party automatically makes someone a politician, I'm here to serve society and share their ideology with every person," she added.
