Saif Ali Khan Faces Flak For His British Accent At Red Sea International Film Festival

Among several celebrities at the recent Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Saif Ali Khan was spotted along with his wife and actor Kareena Kapoor Khan. One of the interactions from the opening night of the festival went viral for Khan’s alleged ‘British’ accent for which the actor has been facing flak on the internet.

After taking a brief pause before speaking on the topic of ‘Women In Cinema’, the actor said, “Cinema is empty without women for a start. When you think of cinema, you think of so many important ladies. My favourite actresses from all the way back from Marlene Dietrich to Audrey Hepburn to Charlize Theron..." Interrupting him, Kapoor added, "to your wife!" and Khan spontaneously continued, "...and to my beautiful wife,” while also adding his mother Sharmila Tagore to the list, also an established veteran actor.

However, he had a little British accent while speaking with all the “you knows” and rolled ‘R’s. The video was uploaded by FilmFestivals.Com.

One user on Reddit wrote, “I feel like Kareena can’t take him seriously with the accent switch up while he’s speaking LOL.” while another wrote, ““You Know” “So” Mr. Eugenics is British now. The way they are so bad at answering such a simple question.” Another commented, “They’re made for each other—husband fakes a British accent while wife is obsessed with the British royal family.”

Another user wrote, “No Saif we don’t know. Why is he British now” while one left a long comment. “ISTG! Why are these rich f*cks so ashamed about having an Indian accent? It’s okay, everyone has an accent. Met plenty of white people in my life and nobody gave a fuck about my accent. I speak like a guy from Mumbai, why try to put up a fake accent ffs!?”

Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been trolled multiple times for her American accent and one of the people to call her out for it was Kapoor. In one Koffee With Karan episode, Kapoor had remarked on Chopra’s accent and asked, “Where does she get it from?” to which Chopra had responded in a later episode, “The same place her boyfriend (at the time) gets it from.”
