Goddess Skandamata is the mother of the Skanda or Kartikeya who has six faces and is also the brother of Lord Ganesha. This form of goddess Durga mounts on a ferocious lion. And has four arms, the upper two arms are depicted with a lotus and the lower arms are shown holding baby Skanda in one hand and Abhaya mudra with the second hand. Skandamata is known for her benevolence and the goddess who opens the door to salvation. And, in addition to that, she is also known as Devi Padmasana as she sits inside a lotus flower with Skanda.

What To Offer To The Goddess

Skandamata appreciates all her devotees and their truest of emotions towards her. But to please the goddess, you can offer her bananas as the goddess-like them. Further, you can offer her petha as a sweet accompanied with some other fruits. Further, in terms of flowers, it is believed that Skandamata likes roses. So, you must not forget to offer red roses to the goddess.

The Most Favourable Colour

The colour of the goddess is Shubhra, meaning glowing bright and radiant. But when any harm comes near her child, Devi Padmasana, reacts to protect him and rages out like a thunderstorm. When goddess Parvati was chosen as the commander in chief of the battle against the demons, she carried lord Kartikeya in her womb and fought the battle valiantly.  Therefore, to signify the power of Devi Skandamata, the favourable colour for the day is grey.
