Meet Maleesha Kharwa, Dharavi Girl Who Is Now Face Of A Luxury Beauty Brand

15-Year-Old Maleesha Kharwa from Mumbai's Dharavi slum has become the face of luxury beauty brand Forest Essentials' new campaign 'The Yuvati Collection' and netizens can't keep calm.

A video of Maleesha entering the Forest Essentials store which had her campaign photos is going viral on the internet. As she sees her pictures outside and inside the store her eyes light up and she can't stop smiling. The brand shared the video on her Instagram handle and wrote, “Her face lit up with pure delight, To see her dreams in front of her insight. Maleesha’s story is a beautiful reminder that dreams really do come true. #BecauseYourDreamsMatter”.

Ever since the video is out, social media users can't stop hailing the luxury beauty brand for picking her for their new campaign. Many said it was refreshing to see a regular face instead of a celebrity for a beauty campaign. Others showered love for Maleesha and said her innocence and raw beauty did all the magic for the brand's campaign.

Maleesha's collaboration with Forest Essentials will also help her achieve her dream education. Through the Yuvati Collection, the brand is contributing to Project Paathshala where 10 percent of the earnings will be donated to offer education to underprivileged children.

Maleesha's Journey From Slums To Success

When Robert Hoffman, The Step Up 2: The Streets actor landed in Mumbai to shoot a music video in 2020, he got stuck due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Soon, he started looking for a slum dweller for his video. In his video, he wanted to portray people of perseverance. One of his friends told him that there was a girl living in the slum who was beautiful. Hoffman met Maleesha but didn't hire her for the shoot because he felt she was too stunning for the part. So, he ended up hiring her cousin instead.

Robert Hoffman opened an Instagram account for the little girl with a GoFundMe page. Her Instagram caption reads, "🦋 People say I live in a slum but I ❤️ my life! I hope to be a supermodel to help my family eat 🦋". Maleesha currently enjoys a following of over two lakh users. In the last two years, she bagged many modelling projects.

Now an Instagram creator, Kharwa loves to post for the camera. She aspires to be a supermodel to support her family. Kharwa, in 2021 starred in a short film titled 'Live Your Fairy Tale', a story that revolved around empathy, the magic of kindness, and the triumph of the human spirit. Next, the 15-year-old will make her debut in Hollywood. Reportedly, she has signed two new Hollywood projects.
