As per early trends, actor-turn-politician Hema Malini, a BJP candidate, is likely to win a second term from Mathura seat in the Lok Sabha election 2019. The dream girl of Bollywood is leading against Congress' Mahesh Pathak and Narendra Singh of the RLD from Mathura constituency.
Hema Malini's campaign in the run-up to 2019 Lok Sabha elections has been full of gaffes. During her campaign in 2014, the Mathura BJP candidate had promised to tackle the monkey menace in Vrindavan but this year during her pre-poll campaign, she blamed it on citizens feeding them Frooti and samosa. She said, ”Coexistence hai na. Monkey kahan jaega? Problem kya hai, yahan aane waale yaatri Frooti dete hain, samosa de de ke unko kharab kar diya. Unko sirf phal dijiye (It’s a coexistence. Where will the monkey go? The problem is the tourists give Frooti and samosa to the monkeys, they should only give them fruits).”
Hema's statement gave fodder to social media who left no stone unturned to troll her.
The Bharatnatyam dancing sensation of Bollywood, Hema Malini, was trolled on the first day of her poll campaign in March this year. The actress-turned-politician shared pictures from her farm visit. “Began my Lok Sabha campaign today with the Govardhan Kshetra where I had the opportunity to interact with women working in the fields. A few fotos for u of my first day of campaign,” Hema Malini had tweeted. Within minutes twitteratis pointed out that the photos of her cutting hay looked staged.

Hema, however, was unaffected by the trolls and quipped, “I am an actress, a celebrity. I don’t see this in Mumbai. When I go to the villages, I like that environment and I like it. Even if I acted, it was fun. What is wrong with it? Everybody was happy to see the picture back in Mumbai.”
That was just a start, in April, Hema Malini tweeted another photo of herself driving a tractor clad in saree. In the pictures shared, one could see air collers placed on the tractor projected towards her.
In another instance, Hema Malini was mocked and trolled by Twitter users for rarely stepping out in the sun without an umbrella. In a Tweet posted by the BJP leader, she was seen popping out of her car through sunroof.

Today’s roadshow was for about 7 kns & took place in Chatta bazaar, Chowk, Holigate etc. Was welcomed so warmly by all the ppl along the route. A near clash with the Cong candidate’s procession was successfully avoided in the narrow bazaar lanes pic.twitter.com/agvAEUQHnC
