Bollywood actors often foray into production and filmmaking during their careers. Some decide to give acting a backseat and work behind the camera while some nail at both.
Here are some of the actors who cast themselves in their maiden projects and nailed at it.
Taapsee Pannu- Blurr
Blurr, the Hindi horror thriller starring Taapsee Pannu and Gulshan Devaiah, premiered on December 9 on Zee5. Directed by Ajay Bahl and jointly produced under the banner of Zee Studios, Outsiders Films, and Echelon Productions, the film marks Pannu’s debut production. Blurr is the official Hindi remake of the Spanish film Julia's Eyes, a psychological thriller film that revolves around a woman named Julia who is suffering from degenerative sight disease. She finds her twin sister Sara, who has already gone blind after suffering from the same disease, hanged in the basement of her house. Despite everything pointing toward suicide, Julia decides to follow her intuition that it is a murder case and eventually enters a dark world that seems to hide a mysterious presence.

Anushka Sharma- NH 10
NH10 is one of the critically acclaimed films of Anushka Sharma. The film also marks her debut as a producer under the banner of her production house Clean Slate Filmz which she founded and established along with her brother Karnesh Ssharma in 2013. However, recently she announced that she parted ways with the production house. The film is directed by Navdeep Singh and follows a young couple whose road trip takes an unexpected turn after an encounter with a group of violent criminals.

Alia Bhatt- Darlings
Marking Alia Bhatt’s debut as a producer, Darlings stars Bhatt, Shefali Shah, and Vijay Verma. The film is a directorial debut of Jasmeet K. Reen and produced by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Gaurav Verma under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions. In this dark comedy film Darlings, Bhatt’s character Badrunissa (Bhatt) is a survivor of domestic violence. Shamshunissa (Shah) keeps encouraging her daughter to leave her husband, sometimes even going to the extent of asking her to kill him.
Deepika Padukone- Chhapaak
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Chhapaak stars Deepika Padukone in the lead alongside Vikrant Massey and Madhurjeet Sarghi. The film marks Padukone’s debut as a producer under her banner Ka Productions and is jointly backed by Fox Star Studios, Avernus Productions and Mirga FIlms. The film is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.

Kareena Kapoor Khan- Untitled
Kareena Kapoor Khan is currently filming the upcoming murder thriller with filmmakers Hansal Mehta and Ekta Kapoor. The yet-to-be-titled film is reportedly a murder mystery and will see Kapoor debuting in a producer’s role.
