A court in Begusarai, Bihar, issued arrest warrants for producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor on allegations that they offended soldiers and their family members in Season 2 of her web series XXX.
The warrant was issued by the judge Vikas Kumar in response to a complaint made by Begusarai resident and ex-serviceman Shambhu Kumar. Shambhu Kumar said in his case filed in 2020 that Season 2 of the web series XXX contained multiple offensive scenes related to a soldier's wife.

The court issued the warrant after Ekta Kapoor and her mother skipped the court summons. The matter is based on a complaint filed by Shambhu Kumar, an ex-serviceman who is a resident of Begusarai.

"The court had issued summons to them and asked them to appear before it, based on a complaint lodged by Kumar, an ex-serviceman and a resident of Begusarai. They (Kapoors), however, informed the court that certain scenes in the series were removed after the objection. But they did not appear before the court following which the warrant was issued against them," said Advocate Hrishikesh Pathak. Earlier also some cases have been registered in other places related to the web series.

Producer Kapoor and others were named in an FIR filed in Indore for allegedly hurting religious sentiments, insulting Army officers, and improperly using the national anthem in the web series XXX season 2. According to the police, the FIR was filed at the Annapurna police station in 2020 under the section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and IT Act.
