One of the highest grossing Malayalam films, Drishyam was remade in Hindi with Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta in lead roles. The twisty tale managed to hook audiences and had a good run at the box office.

The sequel to the 2015 blockbuster has finally made it to the theatres today. Drishyam 2 has the entire cast from the prequel:, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Tabu, Ishita Dutta, Rajat Kapoor among others. A new IG has entered the scene too, played by Akshaye Khanna.
Following up from the first film, this one focuses on Tabu’s character and her reel-life husband, played by Rajat Kapoor, trying to uncover the truth by putting the Salgaonkar family once again on the spot.
Though Drishyam 2 is a remake, it is being labelled fresh because of the change in plot. Ajay Devgn in conversation to a news daily said, "There were a lot of characters added, and a lot of changes made. You won't see Akshaye's character in the Malayalam film or Gaitonde. So, a lot of changes have been made but like Abhishek (the director) said, keeping the soul of the film intact. So, I think, when you see the film, it's going to be very fresh for you."
The reviews have already started to come in and it looks like a Hindi remake has finally made it. The crime thriller is being applauded for its power packed plot.
A continuation to the prequel, Drishyam 2 revolves around the reopening of the murder case. For those who haven't watched the prequel, Vijay Salgaonkar, played by Ajay Devgn, manages to convince the investigating team that he and his family went on a holiday on October 2 and 3, and had no connection to the murder being investigated. However, he eventually confesses to killing Sam ( Tabu and Rajat Kapoor's on-screen son) and asks for forgiveness by the end.
Drishyam 2 begins with the reopening of Sam's case, in a bid to figure out the real murderer and whereabouts of Sam. It will be interesting to see if the new IG (played by Akshaye Khanna) will be able to unwrap the truth since there is a lot of chatter around the third installment of the movie already. South Indian producer Antony Perumbavoor has already confirmed Drishyam 3 with actor Mohanlal.
