Drishyam 2: Ajay Devgn-Tabu Starrer Enters 100 Crore Club In Less Than A Week

Drishyam 2, a Hindi crime thriller film starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, among others, has entered the ₹100 crore club at the box office on its sixth day. The film released at the theatres on November 18.

Drishyam 2 Unstoppable At The Box Office

As per Box Office India, the film collected approximately ₹15 crores on its opening day and earned ₹21 crores approximately on Saturday. With an estimated ₹26.75 crores on Sunday, Drishyam 2 made a collection of almost ₹63 crores nett on its first weekend. These collections stand out as this is much more than what other Bollywood films have been collecting in recent times such as Akshay Kumar starrer Raksha Bandhan and Samrat Prithviraj, Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera, Janhvi Kapoor’s Mili, Katrina Kaif’s Phone Bhoot, and Amitabh Bachchan’s Unnchai, among others.

Even on Monday, Drishyam 2 earned ₹11.75-12 crores nett which was a drop of a mere 20% and hit the ₹75 crores mark in just three days and collected over ₹10 crores on Wednesday taking the total over ₹100 crores.

With a budget of ₹38 crores, Drishyam collected an estimated ₹144.40 crore at the box office.

Drishyam 2 is a sequel to the 2015 crime thriller Drishyam, a Hindi remake of the 2013 Malayalam film of the same name. The film follows the story of a family man who takes desperate measures trying to save his family from the darker side of the law after they commit an unintentional crime.

Written and directed by Jeetu Joseph, the Malayalam film stars Mohanlal and Meena in the lead and is produced by Antony Perumbavoor. The Hindi remake is directed by Nishikant Kamat, written by Upendra Sidhaye and produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures in association with Panorama Studios.

The sequel is based on the 2021 Malayalam sequel of the same name. The Malayalam sequel is written and directed by Joseph and the same cast has reprised their roles once again. The story takes place seven years after the dreadful incident in Drishyam.
