Drishyam 2: Ajay Devgn-Tabu Starrer Has A Strong Hold On Day 5 At Box Office

Drishyam 2, the Hindi crime thriller film starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, among others, has maintained a strong hold at the box office even on its fifth day on November 22, 2022 with a negligible drop. The film that released at the theatres on November 18 held up to its double digit collection with ₹10.50 crore net on Tuesday.

As per Box Office India, the film collected approximately ₹15 crores on its opening day and saw a growth of 40% on the second day and earned ₹21 crores approximately on Saturday. With an estimated ₹26.75 crores on Sunday, Drishyam 2 made a collection of almost ₹63 crores nett on its first weekend. These collections stand out as this is much more than what other Bollywood films have been collecting in recent times such as Akshay Kumar starrer Raksha Bandhan and Samrat Prithviraj, Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera, Janhvi Kapoor’s Mili, Katrina Kaif’s Phone Bhoot, and Amitabh Bachchan’s Unnchai, among others.

Even on Monday, Drishyam 2 earned ₹11.75-12 crores nett which was a drop of a mere 20% and hit the ₹75 crores mark in just three days. The film also did well overseas and grossed $2.3 million approximately with a great business in the United States and Canada, which came down to $1 million. Drishyam 2 is reportedly the fifth highest grossing film overseas after Brahmastra, Vikram Vedha, Laal Singh Chaddha, and Gangubai Kathiawadi.

With a budget of ₹38 crores, Drishyam collected an estimated ₹144.40 crore at the box office.

Drishyam 2 is the sequel to the 2015 crime thriller Drishyam, is a Hindi remake of the 2013 Malayalam film of the same name. The film follows the story of a family man who takes desperate measures trying to save his family from the darker side of the law after they commit an unintentional crime.

Written and directed by Jeetu Joseph, the Malayalam film stars Mohanlal and Meena in the lead and is produced by Antony Perumbavoor. The Hindi remake is directed by Nishikant Kamat and written by Upendra Sidhaye and produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures in association with Panorama Studios.
