Diwali 2024 Puja Muhurat Timing

According to ancient scriptures, you should perform Diwali puja during the Pradosh Kaaland when Amavasya prevails at night. The Amavasya Tithi of Diwali will begin at 15:53 on October 31, 2024, and the Pradosh Kaal will prevail through the night and remain till 06:17 pm on November 1, 2024.

“During the Pradosh period, the auspicious time for worshipping Shri Lakshmi, Ganesh, Kuber, Indra, etc., and donating diyas is from 05:36 pm to 08:11 pm on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Taurus' fixed ascendant Diwali worship time is from 6:25 to 8:15 pm. Mahakali Puja and Mahanishith Kaal Puja time is from 11:16 pm to 00:07 am on October 31, 2024,” shared Punit.

He continued, “For those celebrating Diwali on November 1, 2024, the Lakshmi Puja Muhurat, according to Pradosh Kaal, will remain from 5:35 to 6:16 pm. Diwali puja time for Taurus fixed ascendant is from 6:20 pm to 8:15 pm. Mahanishith Kaal Deepawali Puja on November 1 will remain from 11:39 pm to 00:31 am. Leo Fixed Ascendant Worship Muhurat on November 1 will begin after midnight (on November 2, 2024) from 00:50 to 03:07 am.”

The samagri list for Diwali 2024 includes idols of Shri Lakshmi, Ganesh, Kuber, etc., clay and metal lamps, pure ghee, oil and cotton wick for lighting the lamp, matchbox, incense sticks, puja thali, bell, conch, lotus and other flowers, Tulsi, Neem and Ashoka leaves, roli, kalawa, sandalwood, turmeric powder, kumkum, unbroken rice grains, panchamrit made with milk, curd, ghee, honey and dessert (Jalebi), fruits, dhoop, and kalash.

Diwali 2024 Puja Vidhi: Step-By-Ste

Punit Pandey shared a step-by-step guide for Diwali puja vidhi which is as follows:

• On the day of Diwali, after taking a bath in the morning, worship the Gods, ancestors and venerable people.
• Clean and beautify your home with lights and other decorative items.
• According to the belief of some, Lord Hanuman should be worshipped and offered churma at 12 pm on the day of Diwali.
• Take a bath once again in the evening and wear new clothes.
• Make an altar (vedi) at a pure, decorated and beautiful place in the northeast corner and make the shape of an octagonal lotus from Akshat on the post.
• Install the idol of Goddess Lakshmi on that eight-petalled lotus and worship Goddess Lakshmi, Ganesh, Kuber and Indra, as per the rituals.
• Shodashopachara worship of Shri Ganesha and Bhagwati Lakshmi should be done in fixed ascendant.
• After this, Mahakali should be worshipped in the form of inkstand (davaat), Maha Saraswati in the form of pen and ledger (kalam and bahi) and Kubera in the form of scale (taraju).
• Then, offer fruits, flowers, lamps, incense, fragrance and sweets to the deities.
• Worship Mahalakshmi, and Ganesh Ji through Shri Suktam, Ganpati Atharvashirsha and other remedies, then worship Kuber Ji and Indradev.
• During the time of puja, reciting Lakshmi Suktam, Purusha Suktam, Kanakdhara Stotram and other sacred stotram along with Shri Suktam will be very fruitful.
• After this, play the soop and damru to ward off Alakshmi.
• Chant this mantra during Diwali puja, “Om Shreem Kleem Mahalakshmi Mam grihe Aagacch Hreem Namah.”
• After Diwali puja, keep a four-sided lamp lit throughout the night in your house. This increases good luck and wealth.
• After this, stand at your place and perform aarti for everyone, offer naivedyam and perform kapoor aarti.
• Then, light a lamp at the main entrance of your house or courtyard. Do not keep any place in the house dark, light lamps everywhere.
• Meet your near and dear ones at the end to celebrate Diwali joyfully.
