Significance Of Chhath Puja
Chhath Puja is a festival dedicated to Surya (Sun God). It is a four-day festival that includes
Day 1: Nahay Khay - Followers fast and consume meals only after a bath.
Day 2: Lohanda and Kharna - On this day, devotees observe a fast and break it after sunset.
Day 3: Sandhya Arghya - On this day, devotees observe nirjala vrat (fast without food and water) and offer Arghya to Sun God and Chhathi Maiya.
Day 4: Usha Arghya - On this day, arghya (offering of water) is offered to the rising sun.
It is believed that Draupadi and Pandavas celebrated Chhath Puja to solve their feuds and get their lost kingdom back.
As per the beliefs, the son of the Sun God, Karna also used to perform the puja. Karna was the king of Anga Desh, which is believed to be present-day Bhagalpur in Bihar.
