This year, follow all these sacred rituals to make sure you celebrate Chhath Puja with full devotion! One must follow these rituals as they symbolise purity, devotion, and worship of Mother Nature.
Devotees observe a rigorous, continuous 36-hour fast (Vrat). Some devotees even observed a nirjala vrat, where they don’t consume water.
You need to take a holy bath at riverbanks, lakes, or artificial water tanks (Ghats). Devotees should perform prayers (Arghya) and hymns dedicated to Surya Dev (the Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya.
Prepare the offering of Thekua as prasad. It is the main offering and is a traditional sweet made from wheat flour, jaggery, and ghee.
While celebrating Chhath Puja, devotees dress up in traditional outfits, with women often wearing vibrant sarees and men wearing dhoti-kurta.
