If Aadhaar card holders have been looking forward to an update, now is their chance to get it done for free. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has recently urged the card holders to update their details including name, address, and date of birth for free of cost until December 14, 2024. This is especially important for those having Aadhaar cards for more than 10 years. With the help of this initiative, individuals can update their aadhaar card information online from the comfort of their homes.

UIDAI took to its X handle to post, “UIDAI extends free online document upload facility till 14th December 2024; to benefit millions of Aadhaar Number Holders. This free service is available only on myAadhaar portal. UIDAI has been encouraging people to keep documents updated in their Aadhaar.”

Aadhaar Card 2024 Update Deadline and Charge

Aadhaar card holders now have the opportunity to update their details for free through the myAadhaar portal until December 14, 2024. After this date, individuals will have to visit aadhaar centers for offline updates which will incur a fee.

UIDAI urges the need to update the Aadhaar card information if it has been more than 10 years since the last update. Keeping information up-to-date offers the following benefits:

7 Steps to Update Aadhaar Card Online

1. Visit the UIDAI website at myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
2. Below the ‘My Aadhaar’ section, click on ‘Update Your Aadhaar.’
3. Navigate to ‘Update Aadhaar Details (Online)’ and select ‘Document Update.’
4. Fill in credentials, Aadhaar card number, and captcha, then click on send OTP.
5. Log in with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
6. Select the fields to update information like name, address, and more.
7. Submit updated details and necessary documents. Save the Update Request Number (URN) for tracking.
