Bree Matcha Review: Fresh Taste, Unique Packaging and the Perfect Gift Set

When I got the Bree Matcha gift box, what caught my attention was the packaging and attention to detail. While unboxing it, I got the sense that this was something meant to soothe, not just a tea, but a ritual. With playful, poppy colours and packaging that nods to high-end skincare lines, it immediately sets a tone of care, calm and joy.

Matcha is a rage right now, with cafes and restaurants playing along to cater to matcha-lovers across the globe. Despite its popularity, some continue to find its taste grassy or bitter. But Bree Matcha’s Ceremonial Grade Matcha was fresh, indulgent and delicious.

The brand, launched by actor Sanya Malhotra, helped create a ritual for me that I’m happy to partake in daily.

Previously, I’d enjoyed matcha only at cafes, but trying out the process of whisking and making my own drinks is a process rooted in calmness, which I quite enjoyed.

We whisked the matcha to brew cups of both hot and cold matcha teas, and this review will detail my experience.

Bree Matcha: First Impressions and Packaging

The outer box is fun and vibrant. It had a yellow and purple design, the kind that lifts your mood before you even open it.

Each piece—ceramic bowl, bamboo whisk, spoon—is positioned thoughtfully. The box laid out details of recipes and more too. It’s always a delight to come across a brand that values presentation.

The matcha box reminded me of skincare, and I immediately drew parallels between how both are part of self-care rituals.

The white ceramic bowl is solid: good weight, smooth glaze, not glossed-over or cheap. It feels like something you’ll reach for often.

The whisk (“chasen”) does its job well. It froths up the matcha pretty decently, without too much splashing. The spoon, too, is nicely proportioned for scooping without fuss.

All in all, the box is a complete hamper with everything a matcha enthusiast may need.

Taste and Aroma of The Matcha

The matcha itself smells great. It’s rich and green.

In both the hot and cold versions, it tastes fresh and slightly sweet. Hot versions bring out a creamy vegetal sweetness, with the trademark umami matcha taste. In the cold versions, it’s more refreshing, without being watery or tasteless.
