How To Make Sesame (Til) Ladoo At Home

  1. Roast Sesame Seeds: In a pan over medium heat, dry roast 1 cup of sesame seeds, stirring constantly until they turn golden and release a nutty aroma. Once done, transfer them to a plate and let them cool.
  2. Prepare Jaggery: Grate or finely chop 1/2 cup of jaggery. This helps it melt evenly.
  3. Melt Jaggery with Ghee: In the same pan, add 1–2 tablespoons of ghee and the grated jaggery. Heat on low, stirring until the jaggery melts completely into a smooth syrup.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Add the roasted sesame seeds to the melted jaggery. Optionally, add 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom powder for extra flavour.
  5. Mix Well: Stir the mixture thoroughly to ensure all sesame seeds are evenly coated with the jaggery syrup.
  6. Cool Slightly: Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool slightly, until it’s warm but still pliable for shaping.
  7. Shape into Ladoos: Grease your palms with a little ghee, then take small portions of the mixture and roll them into round ladoos.
  8. Store: Allow the ladoos to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container. They’ll stay fresh for up to two weeks.
