Gujiya is a sweet dish that is fondly eaten during Holi. Dishes similar to this one are eaten in Tibet and Turkey where pastry dough is stuffed with filling and deep fried. In India, this dish is believed to have originated from Vrindavan or Braj. This sweet is usually stuffed with khoya or dry fruits. The strong flavour of ghee is what makes this dessert so delicious to eat.

Here is an easy gujiya recipe with suji filling.
Heat ghee in a pan then roast some suji in it until golden brown.
Saute some grated coconut in the suji, then transfer it to a bowl.
Add sugar, dry fruits, nutmeg and cardamom powder, and mix with suji.
Keep the filling aside for cooling and make the dough.
Take maida, salt, and ghee and knead a firm dough.
Divide the dough into equal parts and flatten them into small rotis.
Place the rotis in a gujiya mould and fill with the filling.
Seal the gujiyas firmly and add them in oil to deep fry.
Once done, soak the oil and serve it in a plate.
