Hummus is commonly eaten in the Middle East and the Mediterranean. It can be combined with pita bread as a snack for parties or just as an evening snack! No mezze is complete without a bowl of hummus and some warm pita. Here's how you can make yourself this delicious dip with an easy step-by-step guide!

  1. In a food processor, add olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, a 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and lemon juice.
  2. Process for 30 seconds, scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl then process another 30 seconds or until well blended.
  3. Open, drain, and rinse the chickpeas.
  4. Add half of the chickpeas to the food processor and process for 1 minute.
  5. Scrape sides and bottom of the bowl, then add remaining chickpeas and process until thick and quite smooth; 1 to 2 minutes.
  6. To Fix the thickness of the hummus, add a tablespoon of water. If remaining thick, go in adding tablespoon by tablespoon.
  7. Taste for salt and adjust as needed.
  8. Serve hummus with a drizzle of olive oil and a dash of paprika.

  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 small garlic clove (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for serving)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • salt to taste
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons water
  • Dash ground paprika or sumac

Step
