This International Teachers' Day, revisit 7 life lessons from your favourite TV and Bollywood teachers, from Taare Zameen Par to Dead Poets Society.
7 Life Lessons Our Favourite TV And Bollywood Teachers Taught Us
From Hichki to The Ron Clark Story, these 7 film teachers taught us lessons that go beyond the classroom.
1. Every Child Learns Differently (Taare Zameen Par)
Ram Shankar Nikumbh is one of Aamir Khan's most famous character. He was the first person to ask why Ishaan wasn't learning, instead of simply calling him lazy. He spotted dyslexia in a child when everyone including his family had given up on him The film reminds us that slow doesn't mean there's an end to it, and that patience that counts.

2. Your Weakness Doesn't Define You (Hichki)
Rani Mukerji's Naina Mathur lives with Tourette syndrome and has been turned down by school after school. She still walks into a class of kids nobody wanted to teach. Her biggest lesson in the film is that there are no bad students, only a system that stops trying. She also shows that what people make fun of can become your biggest strength.

3. Where You Come From Doesn't Decide Where You Reach (Super 30)
Hrithik Roshan plays Anand Kumar in Super 30. In real life, Anand Kumar coaches talented kids from poor families for the IIT entrance exam. They have no money, no fancy coaching and no safety net, but they have a teacher who believes in them. The film tells us that talent is everywhere and opportunity is what's missing.

4. Strict Rules Can Come From Love (The Ron Clark Story)
Once in an interview Matthew Perry said, "Matthew Perry said that playing Ron Clark was a refreshing change because the character lacked the sarcasm and irony of Chandler Bing from Friends" Ron is a teacher who leaves a small town in North Carolina for a tough classroom in Harlem. His students are tough to handle and nobody expects much from them. He sets firm rules, expects the best from every child and goes out of his way to make learning fun.The film shows that discipline and kindness can work together, and that kids excel when you expect them to.

5. Think for Yourself (Dead Poets Society)
Robin Williams's Mr. Keating asks his students to stand on their desks and look at the world from another angle. His "Carpe Diem" message is about finding your own voice instead of living by what others expect. It is still one of the most loved teacher lessons ever put on screen. And the message Carpe Diem is still something that keeps everyone going.

6. Listen First (Freedom Writers)
Hilary Swank plays the role of Erin Gruwell. Her character doesn't start her classes with lectures, isntead she hands her students notebooks and lets them write their own stories. And after her undivided efforts, a class full of angry and divided students learns to trust each other. The films teaches us that sometimes people just need a safe place to be heard.

7. Real Mentors Build Character (Coach Carter)
Samuel L. Jackson's Ken Carter locks the gym doors because his players' grades are slipping, even though the team is winning. He wants them to be accountable young men, not just good players. The film shows that winning matters, but marks and trophies are not the whole picture of success.

Conclusion
Not every teacher gets a film made about them. But the ones who believed in us, pushed us when we were lazy, listened to us when no one else did and stayed patient, did exactly what these characters did. This Teachers' Day, maybe it's time to call them and thank the real ones who shaped us.
